Guvvala Balaraju Biography

Guvvala Balaraju is a politician from the newly formed south Indian state Telangana. He is currently serving as a Member of Telangana Legislative Assembly representing the constituency, Achampet (SC). He is into construction business as well. He also runs a company, GBR Infrastructure in Hyderabad. His wife Amala is a social worker best known for her activities related to women empowerment. She is well associated with Bathukamma, the famous festival of Telangana State, where the celebrations begins from her home.

Guvvala Balaraj was born on 30 June 1981 in Wanaparthy, Telangana into a lower class family. His father Guvvala Ramulu was an agricultural labourer. His mother’s name is Bakkamma. His early education was done from his hometown, and graduated from New Government Degree College, Khairtabad. He also completed his law studies later. During his academic years he started working part-time to help his father, and later turned a small construction contractor. Slowly his business flourished and currently runs GBR Infrastructure in Hyderabad.

His entry to active politics started off with a bitter note. He unsuccessfully contested Lok Sabha elections from Nagarkurnool constituency and lost to Manda Jagannath. However he got elected to Telangana state assembly in 2014 from Achampet (SC) constituency by a huge margin of 12,000 votes. Though he is one among the youngest MLAs of present legislative assembly, he has exhibited his strong leadership skills.

He is quite active in his social life and frequently associates himself with welfare programs mostly related to health and hygiene, and many other areas. He has also made some contributions in the field of irrigation. His wife Amala is also a social worker.
