Guru Radha Kishan was a political activist and freedom fighter associated with Communist party of India. One of the youngest activists from Madhya Pradesh, his patriotism and courage inspired many to follow his path. For his selfless social work and dedication for the underprivileged class, he was addressed as Narmada ke Sacche Sapoot by BJP leader Kushabhau Thakre, despite political indifferences. After independence he was fully associated with social services and aid for the weak sectors of the society. He was a man of masses loved by every class of the society despite being a politician.

Radha Kishan was born in 1925 in Bid village into a family of farmers. His village currently belongs to Harda district, Madhya Pradesh. He lost his father at a younger age. He saw Mahatma Gandhi for the first time at the age of 8 when Gandhi visited his village. He studied at a local school at Chipawad near Khirkiya, which was distant from his village. He also faced many hardships during his childhood days. Once he read a book on the revolutionary struggle of Russia written by Lenin and also got attracted to the struggles of revolutionary leaders for freedom. He too plunged into the same line to achieve India’s freedom.

Once Kishan publicly challenged a British Police official and slapped him in front of a large gathering. He was sent to jail and given severe punishments for this act. He mobilised youth and organised trade union activities in textile mills before independence. After Indian independence, he became the youngest member of Delhi Municipal Committee. He did 24 days fasting to support textile workers in Delhi. He passed away in 1996. Till then he strongly condemned 1984 anti-Sikh riots, 1947 Partition riots and Babri Masjid demolition.
