Govin Singh Biography

Govin Singh is an Indian footballer who plays as a defender for his team. He has played as a team member of national team as well as for Indian Super League. Played with different football clubs across India since 2008, he has also got opportunity to represent India for two matches in 2011, as a member of Indian senior team. Currently he is associated with Aizawl state team since 2018. He has earlier played for Churchill Brothers (2008–2009), East Bengal (2009–2011), Salgaocar in 2011, United Sikkim (2011–2012), Shillong Lajong (2012–2013), Delhi Dynamos in 2014, Royal Wahingdoh (2014–16), Pune City (loan) – 2015-2016 and NEROCA (2016–2018).

 

Moirangthem Govin Singh was born on 3 January 1988 in Tentha, Manipur. He plays as a defender for his team. His professional career began in the year 2008 with Churchill Brothers. He appeared in 16 matches between 2008 and 2009, before he joined East Bengal. Thus he was a member of Churchill Brothers S.C. which won the I-League championship. He played 16 matches for East Bengal team as well. after being associated with East Bengal, Salgaocar, United Sikkim and Shillong Lajong, he was signed for Eagles F.C. of Kerala on loan for 2013-14 season along with 7 more players, and during his stint with this club, he received training with UK based Reading F.C. Academy for a few weeks.

 

His first stint with Indian Super League happened in 2015-2016 season, when he was signed for Pune City on Loan. He got opportunity to play 4 matches for the team. As a team member of Indian national team, he played his first match for India against Chinese Taipei on 21 March 2011. He played one more match for India which marked Bhaichung Bhutia's retirement from professional career.
