Gopal K. Singh Biography

Gopal K. Singh is an Indian actor, associated with movies, television and stage plays. He predominantly plays supporting roles in Bollywood movies, and was most recently seen in a negative shaded role in 2018 highly acclaimed thriller film, Andhadhun. His role as Sub-Inspector who has an extramarital with film’s antagonist Tabu was well noticed. He was earlier seen in Bollywood flicks such as Buddha in a Traffic Jam, Traffic Signal, Badlapur, Ek Haseena Thi, Calcutta Mail, Company, Page 3 etc. He played a cop in two thrillers directed by Sriram Raghavan – Badlapur and Andhadhun.

 

Gopal Singh was born on 14 November 1976 in Chirmiri, Chhattisgarh. Singh started his career as a stage actor before moving to films and television shows. He started his acting career in the second half of 1990s, when he joined Sahitya Kala Parishad repertory in 1997 in his early 20s. During his stint with Sahitya Kala Parishad repertory, he learnt more about stage productions and theatre plays, and also worked as a teacher there.

 

To pursue his dreams in film industry, he moved to Mumbai. However it took many years of struggle to get some meaty roles in his professional career. Andhadhun in 2018 has given him a big break in the recent times. He marked his career with 2002 highly acclaimed film, Company and continued doing small roles for many years. In 2014 he joined television industry playing the witty character of Birbal in the popular historic series, Jodha Akbar. The show went off the air in 2015.Sweety Walia played his wife in this popular show. Though he was not at all interested in doing TV roles, the role of Birbal fascinated him.
