Gokulam Gopalan Biography

Gokulam Gopalan is a business tycoon from Kerala, associated with a wide range of business organizations and products. He is also a film producer and distributor. He is the owner of Gokulam Group of Companies, and currently serves as the chairman of Sree Gokulam Chit & Finance Co. Pvt. Ltd. (SGCF), the flagship company of the Gokulam Group of Companies. The Chit and finance business started in a modest way at Mylapore, Chennai in 1968, and has now completed 5 successful decades. He has distributed two movies since 2010, and one television show for Flowers TV Channel. He also serves as the president of SNDP, Chennai Branch, and Chairman of Flowers TV.

As a film producer he has produced some of the big budget movies of Malayalam cinema like Pazhassiraja, and currently producing the most expensive Malayalam film up-to-date – Kayamkulam Kochunni starring Mohanlal and Nivin Pauley. The movie is being made on a huge budget of 45 crores and slated to release in 2018. As a film producer he marked his debut with sci-fi movie Athisayan in 2007. Naku Penda Naku Taka, Thoongavanam, Clint and Kammara Sambhavam are a few more films as a producer. In 2017 he marked his acting debut with his production venture with a biopic, Clint in 2017.

He was born as A. M. Gopalan in 23 July 1944 in Vadakara, Kozhikode, Kerala. Chathu and Madhu are his parents. He is married and has three children. He started off from a humble beginning, starting with Chit and finance business in 1968. Later he diversified his business to so many branches, and his Chit Fund is one of the leading companies of India. Now he has made a name for himself in India and Eastern Countries of the gulf. He has been conferred with the prestigious “GEM OF INDIA ’96” and “UDYOG RATHNA ’97” award for his success in business. He started Sree Gokulam Medical College, and GG Hospital is its sister concern.
