Gokul Athokpam Biography

Gokul Athokpam is a popular Manipuri actor best known for playing leading roles. He hails from Thangmeiband, Manipur, and is also known by the name, Dawn Actor. He became a part of the celluloid artist group produced by the Bright Film under the title "Dawn", and that’s how he bagged this name in 2001. He has been a part of several plays and Shumang Leelas, including Lidishigi Gulap, Nangna Luhongdringei and Lambidudei, which make him a popular artist of present generation. He initially played villain roles before moving to positive and lead hero roles. Gokul is the producer of the movie, Tayai. He received Special Award of the 5th RJ Film Vision Special Award 2010-11.


Gokul Athokpam hails from Thangmeiband, a Locality in Imphal West Ii Tehsil in Imphal West District of Manipur State. From a very young age along with studies, he started taking up body building. While doing 12th standard studies, he used to take tutorial classes for kids. During that time I got an opportunity to appear on a film. He was passionate about films right from the childhood. His first film was shot in a Video format. He joined Shumang Leela only after entering films, and owns some nice works to his credit. Sumang Leela is one of the significant schools for performing arts of the land, and he accepted the advice of elders before joining it, and his decision proved to be right.


He has appeared in about 118 films so far. Some of his best works include - Lamjasara, Lucy Kamei, Thabaton-1,2, Thouri, Imagee Ibungo, Lambidudei, Sakthibee Tampha, Tayai,Western Sankirtan, Tabunungda Akaiba Likli and Eidi Thamoi Pikhre. He entered into marriage life during the early phase of his career. Yet he owns a lot of female fans. He is married to Sonia.
