Gokul is a successful film Director associated with Tamil cinema. This talented director loves to handle different genres of scripts and weaves good stories with offbeat characters. He has given life to many interesting stories on Tamil silver screen. He is associated with Tamil cinema since 2011 and has directed only three movies in the past three years. He made his directorial debut with the film, Rowthiram in 2011 which received mixed responses from critics. Yet he bounced back and managed to get good reviews for his next comedy flick - Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara, with Vijay Sethupathi in the lead. Kaashmora is his upcoming flick, with Karthi playing the main lead.

Gokul was born and brought up in Chennai. In 2011 he made his debut through Rowthiram starring Jiiva and Shriya in the lead roles. Though the movie was praised for its cinematography & stunt choreography, it received mixed reviews from critics. Performances of its lead actors were also praised by critics. The movie had an anti-climax when it had a theatric release, and following its bad response, its climax was changed and re-released later!

His comedy film with a social message - Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara included an ensemble star cast. The film was noticed for its hilarious comedy scenes and a beautifully woven story with many sub-plots. The movie was nominated for Vijay Award for Best Dialogues. His upcoming project – Kaashmora is slated to release in 2016.

Karthi's face has been 3D scanned for an important sequence in the film and it runs to 15 minutes. This technology has been earlier used for Kochadaiiyaan and Maattrraan, where the full body of its lead actors was scanned. It’s for the first time in Tamil cinema, only face of an actor is scanned for a film sequence. It’s a supernatural horror film scripted by Gokul. Among the three heroines, Nayanthara plays the female lead.
