Ghanashyam Nayak Biography

Ghanashyam Nayak is a noted character artist associated with Bollywood and television. He is a popular Gujarati actor too, who has appeared in movies, plays and television. He gained huge popularity playing the character role of Natwarlal Prabhashankar Undhaiwala (Natu kaka) in the popular sitcom on SAB TV - Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, the longest running sitcom on Indian television. He has also played lead roles in Gujarati TV serials. He made his film debut as a child artist in 1960 film Masoom and later re-entered films in 1990s. Since 2010s he is fully active in television industry. He is also a Gujarati playback singer who has sung aside Asha Bhosle & Mahendra Kapoor.

Ghanashyam Nayak is a Gujarati. He made his acting debut as a child artist in 1960 film – Masoom. Since young he was associated with Gujarati plays and later moved to celluloid medium as well as small screen. He also worked in Bollywood films and TV soaps in Hindi too. In a career spanning to more than 55 years, he has done more than 200 films belonging to Hindi and Gujarati languages collectively. 350 Hindi Television serials and more than 100 Gujarati Stage Plays are his other contributions to the entertainment world. He has also rendered his voice for a few songs for 12 Gujarati films.

He played lead role in the Gujarati television series, ManiMatku. Philips Top 10, Chhuta Chheda, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Sarathi, Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka etc are among his television roles. He returned to Hindi big screen with early 1990s. Beta, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Barsaat, Krantiveer, Eena Meena Teeka, Ishq, Krishna, Ghatak, Khakki, Chori Chori, Tere Naam, Tera Jaadu Chal Gaya, Sham Ghansham, China Gate, Barood, Laadla etc are his noted character roles. He mostly played servant kind of roles and was last seen in 2010 film - Hello! Hum Lallan Bol Rahe Hain.
