George C. Williams Biography

George C. Williams is an established cinematographer associated with south Indian films. As of now, he has worked in Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil films. He has done camera work for some of the biggest blockbusters of Tamil cinema in the recent times. Raja Rani (2013), Kaththi (2014) and Theri (2016) are among those movies. One of his early works include the very popular Malayalam music video - video of "Nenjodu Cherthu" from the music album Yuvvh (2012), directed by Alphonse Putharen, where he did the camera work. The song featuring Nivin Pauley and Nazriya Nazim was a huge chartbuster.

 

George C. Williams is a Keralite, but born and brought up in Chennai. While at Chennai, he used to observe keen the work of P. C. Sreeram, Santhosh Sivan and Jeeva during his school days. That’s how he developed the passion of cinematography and films. He later took graduation in Visual Communication from Madras Christian College, and pursued a career in Tamil films. Film choreographer Kalyan, his family friend introduced him to cinematographer Nirav Shah, who allowed him to work as an assistant in 2007. He worked as a second-unit cameraman during his early days in films.

 

In 2011, he worked for one Telugu film, and shot his first video song - "Nenjodu Cherthu" from the music album Yuvvh in 2012, which helped him to gain foot in the industry. There was no turning back after that, and he turned a busy cinematographer of south Indian film industry. Raja Rani (2013) was his debut work as a cinematographer, and he marked his Malayalam film debut with Sakhavu in 2017. Nivin Pauley played lead role in this film as well. In 2018, he marked his Telugu debut with Tholi Prema.
