Gayatri Sinha Biography 
Gayatri Sinha is an art critic and curator based in New Delhi. She also writes columns on art for some of the leading dailies such as Indian Express, the Telegraph and the Hindu, and also works as an editor for art and historic works. Critical Collective is a forum created by her dedicated to art history and practice in contemporary India. As a curator she has worked on a series of art projects and exhibitions within the country and also conducted photography and video exhibitions. Since early 2000s she is regular with her articles and other forms of publications, mostly related to Indian art and history. She founded an NGO named Devi Foundation, based in Delhi in 2003, which aims at preservation and enhancement of arts and support to under privileged woman and children.
Gayatri Sinha was born and brought up in Delhi. She graduated in English literature and Economics from Calcutta University. Later she took Master’s in Media Studies Social Psychology and Critical Appreciation, Bombay University before she began her professional career. She started her career as an art critic and journalist with The Indian Express in 1981. She was associated with the daily for a decade and later moved to The Telegraph. She moved to The Hindu in 1995 with which she was associated as an art critic till 2006. Yet she continued with her writings, publications and also working as an art curator and promoter of art.
For her contributions towards the field of art, she has been honoured with numerous awards and recognitions. For the Representation of the Divine Feminine in Himachali Painting and Sculpture held in 1995 she received Department of Culture award from Himachal Pradesh. Most recently in 2017 she won Tate Research Fellowship. She also received a Senior Fellowship for two years in 1995 for a critical biography on the artist Krishen Khanna.
