Gavin Packard Biography

Gavin Packard is an Indian actor of Irish accent who worked in Bollywood and Mollywood. He is known for portraying powerful negative roles onscreen. Among his Bollywood works, action thrillers of 1990s - Mohra, Tadipaar and Chamatkar are his most noted works. He also appeared in Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan, Pardesi babu, Hadh Kar Di Aapne, Kunwara, Kranti etc. He was regularly featured in Malayalam movies during 1990s and owns many memorable roles. Aayushkalam, Aanaval Mothiram, Season and Aryan need special mention. He passed away in 2012 at a comparatively young age of 47. He died in Vasai, of respiratory disorder and it is bit surprising that no one from film industry attended his funeral.

 

Packard was born in 1964 in Kalyan of Maharashtra in an Irish family. His grandfather was an Irish man who settled in India. Gavin had 4 younger siblings. His mother was a Konkani Maharashtrian. He was a national level champion of several bodybuilding competitions and that’s how he landed in movies as well. In most of his movies, he was noticed for his physique and regularly featured in action sequences of movies as well. He was a personal friend & trainer to Sanjay Dutt and Shera, Salman Khan’s trainer.

 

He made his screen debut through Priyadarshan’s Aryan (1988), a theme based on Mumbai underworld. After that he was regularly featured in many Malayalam movies in the 1990s. In 1989 he made his Bollywood debut through Ilaaka. He was last seen in 2002 movie Yeh hai Jalwa of Salman Khan and got disappeared from film screen. P Padmarajan's Season is his most memorable role where he played a full-fledged role. His role as Benjamin Bruno in Sreenivasan – Jayaram starrer Aanaval Mothiram (1994) was also well noticed.
