Gauhar Khan Biography

Gauhar Khan is a successful model, video jockey and film actress. As a Bollywood actress her noted work was the lead role opposite Ranbir Kapoor in critically well acclaimed movie, Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year (2009). Successful television actress Nigaar Khan is her elder sibling. Among her television ads, Ford Ikon and Tanishq jewellery are most popular. She has also done ramp walk for Manish Malhotra. In 2002 she finished fourth in Miss. India contest and has represented India in Miss International contest that year. She was one of the top Indian models during the period 2002-2006. Most recently she was the runner-up of the dance reality show – Jhalak dikla jaa. She was paired with Gurmeet Choudhary in the show. She along with her sister Nigaar Khan has appeared in a TV show "The Khan Sisters".

 
Gauhar Khan was born in a Muslim family in Pune as the youngest of 5 siblings. She completed her schooling from Mount Carmel Convent School, Pune. She started modelling in a younger age and appeared in a couple of music videos as well. She also anchored the program Page 3 of Bollywood entertainment channel Zoom. Her acting career began with Miss India: The Mystery in the year 2003 which bombed at box office.

It was followed by a less noticed special appearance role, Nasha in the multi-starrer – Aan men at work. Rocket Singh, released in the year 2009 gave her exposure to Bollywood though the movie was not received well due to less publicity given. She later appeared in Ishaqzaade (item song, "Jhalla Walla" and "Chokra Jawaan'"), Game and the hit item song, “Parda” of Once upon a time in Mumbai. Till now she is most known as an item girl than an actress and the only two movies in which she got a role to act are Rocket Singh and Game. Her item song, "Naa Pera Kanchan Mala" in Telugu movie Shankar Dada MBBS is also popular.
