Gargi Gupta Biography 
Gargi Gupta is a social worker from West bengal, India. She is a recipient of the prestigious Nari Shakti Puraskar, India's national honours conferred on individual women for their exceptional achievement, and many more honours. She was given the honour in the year 2017. She is the founder -secretary of Voice of World, an NGO for visually impaired and differently-abled and orphaned children. Started with 6 kids in her father’s rented home, now she gives shelter to more than 300 children. In 2018 she introduced coastal trek for especially abled inmates. She and her organization also help in the rehabilitation of inmates when they turn adults.
Gargi was born on 19 July 1961 in Kolkata, West Bengal. Her younger days were spent in Kolkata where she completed her studies and started her career with government sector in Indian railways. After the death of her parents, when she felt lonely, she thought of helping the orphaned children. That’s the beginning of her new journey as a social worker. At first she gave shelter to 6 children in her father’s rental home, and slowly started accepting more kids.
She founded ‘Voice of World’ - an NGO in 1992 which works for visually impaired and differently-abled orphaned children in Eastern India. She started residential facility for 300 residential and 3000 nonresidential beneficiaries in 1997. Later she set up a shelter home in Rishra for visually challenged girls for pursuing higher studies, and her training centre also gives scholarship to deserved candidates. She also conducts trekking and other nice experiences for visually challenged kids and other inhabitants. In fact coastal trekking for specially abled inmates was introduced in 2018.
