Gajraj Rao Biography

Gajraj Rao is an Indian actor best known for his association with Bollywood. He also works in other language films and web series. Yet he predominantly works in Bollywood films. Marked his onscreen debut through Shekhar Kapoor’s National award winning film, Bandit Queen in 1994, he has portrayed various character roles on screen. After playing numerous character roles, he shot to fame in 2018, playing the role of Ayushman Khurana’s father in super hit film, Badhaai Ho, known for its comic flavours. He was also seen in yet another comic and hit film of 2018, Blackmail, starring Irrfan Khan in a lead role. He played the supporting role of a detective in the film, and this role got noticed as well.

Gajraj Rao was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He completed his formal education in acting from the National School of Drama. Later he dabbled with different kinds of works such as copywriting and dialogue writing, followed by his professional job in an export-import company, before becoming an advertising professional. In the past 25 years he has struggled a lot to finally receive the success and recognition, which he actually deserved. After playing the pivot role of Jeetender Kaushik, a middle-age man who impregnates his middle-aged wife, mother of 25 year kids and his comic role shot him to instant fame. The movie went on to become one of the major hits of 2018.

He started his career in 1994 with the film "Bandit Queen", and acted in several films like "Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi", "Yahaan", "Black Friday", "Aamir" and "Talvar". The film "Badhaai Ho", is about parenthood of an elderly couple, a theme rarely explored on Bollywood screen before in a comic knot. The actor never wanted to struggle for his survival as an actor, and has appeared in a web series like Bang Baaja Baaraat for Yash raj Films.
