Farrokh Khambata Biography

Farrokh Khambata is a celebrity chef, restaurateur and a successful entrepreneur. He is the founder and CEO of "Catering & Allied" in Mumbai. He is one of the leading names in catering business in India, and he is running a Mumbai based business. His specialties include celebrity catering too and in 2015 he catered to PM Narendra Modi. He is a recipient of multiple awards in the field of cuisines. He frequently receives Times Food Award in different categories since 2008. In 2015 he received Times Food Award 2015 for Best Lebanese cuisine – Amadeus and Best Noteworthy Newcomer - Japanese and Oriental cuisine – Joss.

 

He belongs to a Parsi family, born and brought up in Mumbai. His parents worked as accountants. After schooling he pursued graduation in architecture. However he discontinued his studies and later joined the Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition, Mumbai, to pursue a career in this field. After completion of the course, he travelled many foreign countries across Asia and Europe to introduce him to different varieties of cuisines. Upon return, he started his own catering company called ‘Catering and Allied’ in 2002. This small set up has now branched into one of the leading caterers of Mumbai city.

 

He had passion to cooking since younger days and has won many cookery competitions. He won All India chef competition successively for two years in 1990 and 1991. After the success in his business he won his first award as a restaurateur in 2008. He won Times Food Award 2008 for Best Caterers- Continental - Italian & Sushi - Catering and Allied. Since then he has received numerous recognitions in this field. He gave Mumbai its first taste of Oriental cuisine. Burmese dish of Khow Suey is his specialty.
