Erick Avari Biography

Erick Avari is an Indian American television, film and theater actor born in Darjeeling, West Bengal. He is popular for his roles in science fiction series. He is the great-grandson of Jamshedji Framji Madan, one of the pioneers of Indian cinema and theatre. As a film actor, Stargate, Flight of the Living Dead, The Mummy, Daredevil, Home Alone 4, Planet of the Apes and Mr. Deeds are his noted movies. He acted in the original Stargate movie and the spin-off series Stargate SG-1 in three episodes. He has also done noted special appearances in a series of American movies. He has completed more than 3 decades in his acting career.

 

His full name is Nariman Eruch Avari. He was born in Avari-Madan Parsi family in Darjeeling in 1952. His father, Eruch Avari, was also a theater personality who owned two theaters. He schooled at North Point School and graduated from College of Charleston, in South Carolina. He reached Los Angeles in 1991. Before that he was already an established theater artist.

 

He has consistently turned in finely crafted performances, from grand opera to soap opera. He has worked in regional theater apart from high grosser movies and hit television soaps. His comic role in Mr. Deeds opposite Adam Sandler, the science fiction epics such as The Mummy, with Rachel Weisz and Brandon Fraser and Stargate alongside Kurt Russell and James Spader are his noted roles. He played the role of Jennifer Garner’s father in noted feature film, Independence Day. He also appeared as antagonist in 1997 computer game - Zork: Grand Inquisitor. Paul Blart: Mall Cop and Days of our Lives are his recent works.
