Eranholi Moosa Biography

Eranholi Moosa was a legendary Mappila singer from Malabar, who is widely regarded as the number one singer belonging to this genre of songs in present Mapilla Paattu era. He played a magnificent role in popularizing Mapilla pattu among Keralities across the globe, and has a huge fan following crowd in gulf countries also. Manikya Malaraya Poovi, Mailanji Arachallo, Thaif Nagari, Nafsu Nafsine, Kettukal Moonum Ketti, Misrile Raajan etc are some of his most popular songs. He owns hundreds of hit songs to his credit. He passed away on 6th May 2019 after brief illness. He was aged 75. He stood with religious harmony and had leftist ideologies.

 

Eranholi Moosa hailed from Eranholi of Thalaseery, and that’s how ‘Eranholi’ got added to his name. His real name is Valiyakathu Moosa. Moosakka and Isal Rajan are some of the names which his fans used to call him. Moosa started off singing in wedding functions, and slowly gained popularity among the masses. He also took music lessons for two years before joining Akashvani as a singer, after he was advised to do so by M. K. Arjun, Malayalam composer.

 

Eranholi played a magnificent role in popularizing mapilla songs and also released many albums. Among all Mapilla singers, he did maximum shows in Arab countries, and remains the most popular singer too. His version of the old song Manikya Malaraya Poovi still remains popular. When the song was adapted for the famous ‘wink scene’ for the romantic flick, Oru Adaar Love in 2018, his popularity reached far wide. He appeared in Malayalam film, Gramaphone in the role of a musician and it’s his single role on big screen. His role was well noticed.
