Era Natarasan Biography

Era Natarasan is an Indian writer associated with Children’s books, science and fiction and he writes in English and Tamil languages. He is popularly known as Ayesha Natarasan. He is the author of bestseller English novel, Ayisha and after the work turned an instant hit, readers fondly call him Ayesha Natarasan. He has authored more than 80 books, mostly belonging to science fiction. Vigyana vikramadhithyan kadhaigal is his acclaimed science fiction book for kids, which helped him to earn "Bal Sahitya Puraskar Award" from Tamil Sahitya Academy. The book includes the history of the medical inventions of some great vaccines.  

He was born on 8 December 1964 in Lalgudi, Trichy District, Tamil Nadu. He is also a prolific educator and teacher, who currently serves as Head master of the Krishnasamy Memorial Matric Higher Secondary School, in Cuddalore near Puducherry. Natarasan started his writing career in the early 1980s beginning with literary magazines. His first poem was published in Ananda Vikatan in 1982. He got encouraged and started writing more works. But later he completely switched over to science fiction, mostly dedicated for kids. As of now, his name is mostly linked with science fiction and children literature in Tamil and English languages.

He authored an award winning book, Idhu yarudaya vagupparai, exclusively for teachers. His four short stories – Ayesha, Madhi, Rathathin Vannathil and Vattathin Pakkangal have been adopted to screen for short films, and he appeared in a cameo role in one feature film, Ammavin Kaipesi. He is a psychologist and an educational scholar associated with educational activism. He has been honoured multiple times by Government of Tamil Nadu for his literary contributions.
