Emraan Hashmi Biography

Emraan Hashmi is an Indian film actor who concentrates in Hindi film industry. He was born on 24th March 1979 in a Muslim family. His parents are Anwar Hashmi and Maherahh Hashmi. His father is a Muslim and his mother is a Roman Catholic. He changed his first name to Farhaan and later reverted back to his original name.

 

After he completed his studies in graphics and animation at Sydenham College in Mumbai, he turned his face towards film industry. He married Parveen Shahani on 14th December 2006 and has a boy baby named Ayaan born on 4th February 2010. The actress Pooja Bhatt is his cousin and he is the nephew of film producers Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt.

 

His film career started with the film Footpath in 2003 which failed to get success. He gave his first hit in 2004 through the film Murder with Mallika Sherawat. After that he acted in many films and most of them were moderate successes.

 

Some of the films that he has acted include Kalyug, Jawani Diwani – A Youthful Joyride, Aksar, Gangster, The Killer, Dil Diya Hai, Good Boy Bad Boy, The Train: Some Lines Should Never Be Crossed, Awarapan, Jannat, Murder 2, Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji, Crook, Once Upon a Time In Mumbaai, etc. He is called as the serial kisser as he has kissing roles in many films.

 

In July 2009 he lodged a complaint against the housing society in Mumbai stating that it refused to give him permission to buy the apartment on communal grounds as he is a Muslim. This was criticized by many people who expressed their views that this accusation may start communal tensions in India. Later on 10th August 2009 he clarified that he did not accuse the housing society and the whole problem was due to miscommunication.

 

He has received Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a Negative Role for the film Gangster, Star Screen Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role for the films Murder and Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai, Apsari Award for Best Actor in Supporting Role and Apsara Award for Best Performance in a Negative Role for the film Once Upon A Time In Mumbai, Star Screen Award and IIFA Award and many more awards.
