Ekta Kapoor Biography

Ekta Kapoor is a successful film maker and serial maker. Among her movies as a producer, Dirty picture, starring Vidya Balan in the leading role is her most successful movie. For the past 15 years or so, she has been a part of family entertainer and her daily soaps are immensely popular. She is the producer of lengthy serial, Kyunki Kabhi saas bhi kabhi bahoo thi. This serial has been very popular among lady viewers for many years and has received many television awards also. Her other successful television soaps include – Bade achche lagthe hain, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Kasamh Se, Pavitra Rishta, Tere liye, Kahani ghar ghar ki and Kahiin To Hoga. Apart from television serials, she is a successful film producer also. She is the Joint Managing Director and Creative Director of Balaji Telefilms, her production company.  She is currently producing Pavitra Rishta, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain and Jodha Akbar.

Ekta Kapoor was born on June 7, 1975 as the daughter of star of yesterdays, Jeetendra, most popularly known as Jumping jack. Her mother, Shobha Kapoor is also a television and film producer. She is the elder sister of actor Tushar Kapoor and she has produced many successful films with Tushar Kapoor. Kuch to hai, Dirty picture, Kya cool hain hum and Kya super cool hain hum.  Her critical and commercial successes of Bollywood collectively are Love Sex aur Dhokha, Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, Shor in the City, Ragini MMS, Kyaa Super Kool Hai Hum, Lootera and The Dirty Picture. She is always known for choosing adult and bold subjects for her movies. Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai dobara starring Akshay Kumar, Imraan Khan and Sonali Sinha is to release soon. Other upcoming projects are Ek Thi Daayan, Shootout at Wadala and Ragini MMS 2.    

As a Bollywood director, her first venture was Kyo Kii... Main Jhuth Nahin Bolta (2001) starring Govinda, Sushmita Sen, Mohnish Bahl and Rambha in the leading roles. However the movie was not a big success as expected. It was followed by Kucch To Hai and Krishna Cottage in the following years, based on horror and suspense themes. She co-produced Shootout at Lokhandwala, that was successful too.
