Ehsaan Noorani Biography

Ehsaan Noorani is the middle name of the music trio of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy music directors who have amazing contributions to Bollywood. Their best works include Kal ho ha ho, Dil chatha hai, Jhoom barabar jhoom and Bunty aur Bubli. Though he has less sung for movies, he has rendered his voice along with Shankar mahadevan for the song ‘Yeh dil’ of Pardes. Of the trio, Ehsaan Noorani is the leading guitarist who studied music from an experienced guitar teacher from Mumbai - Bismarck Rodrigues. While Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy team conducts live concerts and stage shows he catalyses the energy of his team by playing guitar in the front row. Noorani is the first Indian to have endorsed a signature line of Fender guitars, a unique achievement.

Ehsaan Noorani studied music abroad in Los Angeles and has worked as the assistant of many leading music directors of Bollywood like Laxmikanth – Pyarelal and Kalyanji Anandji. He created a lot of jingles also during this period. Ehsaan Noorani met Loy in 1989 and they began to work together to create jingles and become successful too. Later they met Shankar Mahadevan and ropped him for a Pepsi add, thus began the relationship and association of this music trio. Shankar Mahadevan had just did ‘breathless’ that time, they together gave music to their first music video ‘Aasma se paar shaayad aur koi aasma hoga’ of Rockford. The album got excellent reviews from music critics and Shankar Mahadevan acted in its video too. ‘Dus’ was their first movie though it was shelved. The song ‘Suno zor se’ pictured on Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan was a huge hit during 1999.

Later they worked together for a few movies like Bhopal Express and Kamal Hassan’s Aalavandhan in Tamil, it was Mission Kashmir of 2000 with songs Bumbro, Socho ki cheelon ki sahar ho and Rind Posh Maal which brought them to limelight. Next year Farhan Akthar’s debut movie ‘Dil chahta hai’ brought them stardom and success of movies like Kal ho na ho, Kabhi alvida na kehna, Rock on, My name is Khan, tare zameen par and Jhoom barabar jhoom just followed their success line.
