E. V. V. Satyanarayana Biography

Eedara Veera Venkata Satyanarayana, shortly called E. V. V. Satyanarayana was a noted film maker and screenwriter associated with Telugu cinema since 1980s. He was fully active in the film industry till he passed away on 21 January 2011, aged only 54. E. V .V. Cinema was the production company started by him in the year 2000. Apart from Telugu movies, he has also done a few Bollywood films and has contributed 51 films to the industry as a director. He was known as a film producer, director as well as screenwriter. Satyanarayana is best known for making movies belonging to comedy genre and was quite successful. Bollywood actress Karishma Kapoor debuted film industry with his second directorial venture - Prema Khaidhi. Noted film actors - Allari Naresh and Aryan Rajesh are his sons.

 

Satyanarayana was born on 10 June 1956 at Dommeru Village, West Godavari Andhra Pradesh. His family later moved to Korumamidi, Nidadavole. He has 3 siblings – two brothers who work as still photographers in film industry and one sister. Satyanarayana was attracted to films since his younger days and for the same reasons he couldn’t concentrate on his studies. However he completed his intermediate before plunging into the world of cinema. He reached Chennai with film dreams and had to face a lot of hardships during those days.

 

He got help from film producer Navatha Krsihnam Raju who helped him to join as assistant director to Devadas Kanakala. He later worked as an assistant under director Jandhyala for about 8 years in the 1980s before co-directing the movie, Indrudu Chandrudu. He marked his directorial debut with the flop movie - Chevilo Puvvu and even decided to leave the film industry with its failure. However producer Dr. D. Ramanaidu gave him a chance to direct Prema Khaidhi in 1991 which was a box office hit. There was no turning back after that. In 1994 he received Nandi Award for the film Aame.
