E. S. L. Narasimhan Biography 
E. S. L. Narasimhan is an Indian administrator, retired Indian Police Service officer and politician who currently serves as the Governor of south Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He assumed office of the Governor of Andhra Pradesh in December 2009, and after the split of Andhra Pradesh into two states in 2014, he continued governing both these states as well. He retired from the government service of Indian Police Service as Director of the Intelligence Bureau in 2006 and later he was given the responsibility of governor of south Indian state Andhra Pradesh. Prior to his appointment as governor of Andhra Pradesh, he served as the Governor of Chhattisgarh from 2007 to 2009.
His full name is Ekkadu Srinivasan Lakshmi Narasimhan. He was born in the year 1946 in Madras Presidency, Tamil Nadu. Narasimhan is a gold medallist from the Madras Presidency College, where he completed his graduation. He later completed his law studies, before he joined Indian Police service in 1968 batch from Andhra Pradesh cadre. After training period, he was first appointed as the First Secretary in the Embassy of India in Moscow from 1981 to 1984. He later worked with Intelligence Bureau for many years till his retirement, serving in many high-profile positions including Director of the Intelligence Bureau from February 2005 to December 2006.
Narasimhan was appointed Governor of Chhattisgarh on 19 January 2007. It was one soon after his retirement from government service in 2006. In December 2009, he took additional charge as acting Governor of Andhra Pradesh. The position was earlier held by Narayan Dutt Tiwari who was forced to resign after a sex scandal. On June 13, 2017 he became longest serving Governor of Andhra Pradesh.
