Divya Palat Biography

Divya Palat is an actor and theatre director. She has appeared in a few Bollywood movies like Dil Bechara Pyaar Ka Maara, Chal mere bhai, Masti, Kuch Naa Kaho, Krishna Cottage and a few more in supporting roles. She played lead role in Dhund – The fog, though the movie was not successful. Doordarshan television series named Caption Vyom wired during 1998 was one of her earliest works. She belongs to Royal family of Kochi and has played lead role in a powerful women-oriented Kannada movie in 2000 opposite Yogesh, directed by Raj Kishore which was a commercial hit. She is married to film and television actor, Aditya Hitkari who has been a successful model and VJ.

Divya Palat belongs to Royal family of Kochi, but educated at Mumbai, New York and in Delhi due to the transferrable job of her father. Sri Rama Varma - Maharaja of Cochin was her great great grandfather. Her other great great-grandfather Sir Chettur Sankaran Nair was a Member of the Viceroy's Privy Council. Her father is a famous banker and writer, Raghu Palat. Later she moved to California for higher studies and once returned she made her small screen debut through popular television series of Doordarshan, Captain Vyom. She played the role of Doctor Sen in this television series. Though she appeared in a few movies, her Bollywood career was not so bright.

She moved to production field and set up a Production Company, "Balancing Act Productions". It produced many award winning and critically acclaimed plays like "A Personal War- Stories of the Mumbai Terror Attacks", "The Verdict", "The Graduate", "Love Bytes", "Starring U & Me!", and "The Wizard of Oz". Her play 'A Personal War- Stories of the Mumbai Terror Attacks’ was ranked among the top 3 plays at the Edinburgh Fringe festival 2008.
