Vivian Fernandes, better known by his stage name Divine, is a famous rapper and singer from Mumbai, Maharashtra. He founded Gully Gang, and occasionally sings songs for Bollywood films. He began his career as an underground rapper in 2011. His single 'Yeh Mera Bombay' shot him to instant fame, and since then he has released many hit singles like his solo 'Jungli Sher'. He is also a performer on stage. 'Mere Gully Main' is yet another popular single in collaboration with Naezy, and it was that particular song which cemented his position in Indian rap scene. His songs belong to the genre, Desi Hip Hop. He popularised phrases like ‘boys from the naka’, ‘yeh mera Bombay’ and ‘scene kya hain’ through his band.

Vivian was born and brought up in the slums of Andheri, Mumbai. His mother and brother both worked abroad ever since his dad left, and young Vivian was all alone. He started rapping while at school just for fun. Initially he was not at all serious about it, and never thought of it as a full-fledged career. But later Fernandez barged into a rap scene that was dominated by lyrics about alcohol, drugs and girls, they told his story too. Its catchy lyrics got noticed and very soon he turned successful in this field.

He was signed for Sony Music India, thus becoming the first Indian artiste to have a single released worldwide by Apple Music. He is also the inspiration behind a Zoya Akhtar film, along with his peer Naezy. In fact his association with Naezy and the song 'Mere Gully Main' gave him the real breakthrough he was waiting for. He slowly gained popularity for the meticulous flow, his electrifying stage presence and authentic lyrics.
