Dipa Shah Biography

Dipa Shah is a film actress associated with south Indian movies. Till now, she has appeared in 4 movies, belonging to Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu languages. She worked with Mohanlal and Kavya Madhavan for the movie – China Town in 2011. She debut big screen with the Tamil movie - Yuddham Sei, a crime thriller in 2011 directed by Mysskin, where she played the lead role of a trainee cop. She was paired with Cheran for the movie which gathered critics’ appreciation. Before that she has appeared in a bit role in Telugu movie - Ninnu Kalisaaka.

Dipa Shah was born into a business family in Mumbai. She debut with 2011 movie Yuddham Sei, where she shared screen space with Cheran for the first time. The movie also starred Y. G. Mahendra, Lakshmi Ramakrishnan, Jayaprakash and Selva in character roles. Same year she made her Malayalam debut through Mohanlal starrer China Town. She took a break of 2 years in between. Her third movie was Sillunu Oru Sandhippu, where she played one among the two female leads. She shared screen space with Vimal and Oviya. Dipa played a very traditional Tamil girl from Ooty and the movie received mixed reviews. Though not a trained dancer, she learnt Kathak from Viru Krishnaji to do its song sequences.

She is a strict vegetarian. She is an athlete and has won several gold medals during her college days. She said in one interview that while shooting for a sequence in her debut movie, Mysskin asked her to chase a car bare footed. When she actually catch up with the car and overtook it, whole unit became surprised as it was not possible for a normal person. Then only she revealed herself to be an athlete.
