Dinkar D. Patil Biography 
Dinkar D. Patil was a prominent figure of Marathi cinema during its golden era. He was a director, screenwriter and dialogue writer. He directed, wrote scripts and dialogue for more than 60 Marathi films. He also directed two Hindi Films - Mandir and Gharbar. He has also published his autobiography titled Patlache Por. Patil was born on November 6, 1915 in a reputed Marati family at Benadi, Mumbai. He was active in the industry for 5 decades from 1950s to 1990’s.
From childhood he was interested in theatre and movies. He completed his B.A. in Literature from Rajaram College in Kolhapur. While at college, he used to write for magazines and has edited college magazine "The Rajaramian" as well. He started his film career doing assistant job in the Maharashtra Film Company where he became the assistant of Master Vinayak. Later he started independent assignments. As per his opinion, cinema is a good media to promote social changes in the society and he made good use of it. His movies were mostly based on rural themes. He has worked closely with leading artists such as Bhalji Pendharkar, V. Shantaram, Master Vinayak, Narayan Hari Apte and Lata Mangeshkar.
It was Patil who introduced Marathi Lavani folk dance to movies. He has given significant contributions to Marathi Film City as an artist. A few of his noted movies include – Sulavarchi Poli , Shivrayachi Soon Tararani, Soona Ani Mona, Tarka, Umaj Padel Tar, Dev Jaaga Aahe, Navra Mhanu Naye Apula, Diste Tasa Naste, Muthbhar Chane, Soonbai Ooti Bharun Jaa, Kunkwacha Tila, Shivrayachi Soon Tararani, Bhatak Bhavani, Ram Ram Pahune, Mandir and Kunku Maze Bhagyache. He was the director who gave Jayshree Gadkar, break to movies. Apart from movies, he has also directed a few documentary films.
