Dinesh Prabhakar Biography

Dinesh Prabhakar is a popular actor of Malayalam known for portraying supporting roles. His distinct and different looks have helped him a lot to portray entirely different character roles. Lukka Chuppi –his recent movie is one of the memorable roles he played onscreen till now. He carries the role of a drunkard with a difference and he received a loud noise of applause for his memorable portrayal of Benny Chacko in the film. He was also the casting director and executive producer of the movie.

Apart from a few Malayalam movies like 1983, Matinee etc, he has also done a few Bollywood movies like Madras Café and Waiting. Earlier he has worked as a dubbing artist for Bollywood in the 1990s and has also appeared in a few television ads. His real dream was to act in Bollywood movies, though he gained attention through Malayalam films in the recent times. Yet he was able to gain attention through a few popular ads. He still has passion to appear in Bollywood movies.

Dinesh stayed in Mumbai in the 1990s with a dream to become an actor of Bollywood. He did many odd jobs including a courier boy during this time. He approached many people, directors etc to gain attention. He also worked with a film magazine and got opportunity to enter a Filmfare award nite, where he met a few film celebrities. In between he dubbed for a few movies and appeared in many ads like Kitkat, LIC as well. He also did comparing and mimics for stage shows in Mumbai in search of an opportunity in Bollywood. He worked as a copy writer and assistant director for ad companies, and worked behind camera as well.

Then he decided to come back to Kerala, where he approached a few directors and acted in a few movies as well. Then he started an advertising company. He got opportunities in Bollywood after his success in Malayalam. He appeared in an ad aside Deepika Padukone for BSNL and also an Amaron Battery through which he got recognition. He got recognized by people after doing Amaron battery. Once he met actor Shah Rukh Khan at Munnar, while the shooting of Chennai Express was going on. Though Shah Rukh told we had met earlier, Dinesh replied that they were meeting for the first time. Then only Shah Rukh could identify that it was through that Amaron ad, the popular ad of his son.
