Dilnaz Irani Biography

Dilnaz Irani is an Indian film actress who appears in Hindi films. She mostly plays supporting roles. She also appears in television shows and web series. As a film actress she got first noticed through her debut role in Bollywood movie, Jodhaa Akbar, where she played the character role of Salima Sultan Begum. In 2016 she earned recognition through a brief but sweet role of a journalist in highly acclaimed film, Aligarh. She played Rajkummar Rao’s love interest in this movie.


Dilnaz Irani hails from Mumbai, Maharashtra. She completed Electronics Engineering studies from St. Xaviers, Mumbai. Later she also did eight levels of the Trinity College London exam course. Theatre happened to her while she was studying drama at Trinity, which she completed 8 levels. The director was looking for a young girl for the play and she got selected. There was no turning back after that. After studies she worked as a software engineer for four years before she joined film industry as an actor in 2007. She has acted in theatre plays and has been a ramp model before she forayed into films. She appeared in a music video, appeared in ads and also worked as a video jockey for a music show for television.


She marked her film debut with 2007 film, 68 Pages, a film about an HIV/AIDS counselor and five of her clients. Irani played a brief role of Neha in the film, which was shown at several international film festivals. She got noticed through her second flick, Jodhaa Akbar co-starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai. She has been a part of TV serials such as Kitani Mohabbat Hai, Parvarrish – Kuchh Khattee Kuchh Meethi and V The Serial, and also the web shows - I Don't Watch TV, Ragini MMS: Returns and Twisted 2.
