Diamond Babu Biography

Diamond Babu is a film public relations officer and media consultant associated with Tamil cinema. He is based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He has been associated with more than 600 films as public relations officer. He is the son of Film News Anandan, a film historian, photojournalist and photographer also known as "walking encyclopaedia" of Tamil cinema. Babu is associated with films since mid-1980s. A towering personality, Babu is a classic case of a son obeying his father when it comes to his career.

Diamond Babu was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, born as the son of noted photojournalist and historian Mani, best known as Film News Anandan in the film industry. His father was a prominent and senior most journalists associated with Tamil media and film industry. Babu followed his father’s legacy and joined film industry as a film public relations officer and media consultant in the 1980s. His entry to film industry was well promoted by his father. In fact Babu was a banker prior to his entry in cine industry. He started the ‘Diamond’ film club and screened films for a close group at some of the theatres in the 1980s. Later ‘Diamond’ tag got permanently added to his name. Later he turned a full-fledged PRO.

As a public relations officer, his first film was Oomai Vizhigal in 1986. He got full support from his father for its release. Some of his later works as a PRO are My Dear Marthandan, Captain Prabhakaran, Mannan, Rajakumaran, Mannavaru Chinnavaru, Kandukondain Kandukondain, Aalavandhan, Kaakha Kaakha, Chandramukhi, Sachein, Mozhi, Abhiyum Naanum, Kanthaswamy, Thuppakki, Arima Nambi, Theri, Kabali, Baahubali, Vishwaroopam II etc. The big budget 2.0 is his upcoming release. He received Best PRO awards at Vijay Awards in 2017.
