Dheeraj Rattan Biography

Dheeraj Rattan is a screenwriter and film director associated with Punjabi cinema. As a writer, he is best known for his movies such as Jatt & Juliet, Tu Mera 22 Main Tera 22 and Singh vs Kaur, which became huge success at box office. After a string of super hit movies in the recent times, he became one of the most sought film directors of Punjabi film industry. He also played a magnificent role in commercializing Punjabi cinema in the past one decade and taking it to new heights. He played an important role in bring movie buffs to theatres.

Dheeraj Rattan was born on October 28, 1974. To pursue a career in film industry as a film director, he started off as an assistant director in 2007, working in Bollywood films. He also co-wrote the scripts of Bollywood flicks - Mumbai Salsa and Haal-e-Dil. Both of them were not commercially successful ventures. Yet it helped him to put his foot in the industry. He later worked in Mahesh Bhatt camp, co-scripting horror flicks. 1920, Shaapit and Phhir are some of the movies for which he contributed.

Rattan started trying his luck in Punjabi cinema almost at the same time and succeeded as well. The movie Mel Karade Rabba was his debut flick as a screenwriter in Punjabi cinema. He wrote the screenplay and dialogues for the movie, and it went on to become a successful venture. After that he worked in a series of movies as a screenwriter. Throughout his film career, he has directed two Punjabi movies - Saadi Love Story and Ishq Garaari both released in 2013. Banjara: The Truck Driver, Golak Bugni Bank Te Batua and Welcome To New York (Hindi) are among his recent flicks as a writer.
