Dheer Charan Srivastav Biography

Dheer Charan Srivastav is a south Indian actor, best known as a comedian, who predominantly works in Hyderabad Deccani Urdu cinema. He has also done a few movies in Telugu and Bollywood.  His role as Ismail Bhai in comedy films, The Angrez (2005), Hyderabad Nawabs (2006) and Hungama in Dubai (2007) made him popular among Hyderabadi cine-goers. He is associated with entertainment industry since 2005 and The Angrez was his debut flick. Later he acted in more than 25 films belonging to different languages. 127B, Tiger Sultan, Sardaar Gabbar Singh etc are among his recent releases.

 

Dheer Charan Srivastav or simply D. C. Srivastav was born in Hyderabad, present-day Telangana on 9 August 1967. His mother tongue is Hindi. He grew up at Himaytnagar and completed his school education from Daffodils School, where his mother Pushpa Srivastav taught Hindi. He completed his graduation from Osmania University in 1995. He worked as a Network Techno Marketing Manager in Hyderabad before joining films. Since young he was interested in humour, and later his sense of humour paved him to Hyderabadi films.  

 

Shrivastav shot to fame as Ismail bhai with his debut film, The Angrez, and later the name became his identity. After the movie’s success, he repeated the same role in a few more movies. His role as the innocent chicken shop owner is unforgettable. His foray into Telugu industry happened when he was approached by director Eshwar Reddy after watching his performance in The Angrez. The movie was Manorama starring Charmme, and based on the Gokul chat bomb blast issue. Since the movie had a Hyderabadi backdrop he was expected to speak Hyderabadi Telugu.
