Dheepa Ramanujam is a popular character artist associated with Tamil cinema. She has also acted in Tamil television series. She forayed into acting with K. Balachander's television serial Premi. As a film actress, she debut with Arunachalam in 1997, and thus she completed 20 years in Tamil film industry. She is also a theatre director, best known for directing the stage play, Chillu, a science fiction stage play. Currently Dheepa Ramanujam is quite active in film scene. The new mom of Tamil cinema, she is a familiar face among Tamil audience right now. A multifaceted artist, Dheepa is known as a Film and Television Actress, Director, Producer and Writer in the industry. She has directed more than 10 plays up-to-date.

Dheepa Ramanujam hails from Srivilliputtur, Virudhunagar. 31st August is her birthday. She was earlier settled in Fremont, California before she moved to India. She came to India with an intention of becoming a director, but turned an actor. Idhu Namma Aaalu marked her comeback to big screen. She holds M.Sc degree in Foods and Nutrition. She is married to T A Ramanujam and the couple has one daughter, Akshaya. She started off her career in television through Premi in the 1990s, directed by K. Balachander. Later she got a bit role in Rajnikanth starrer Arunachalam in 1997. She was active in theatre as well. In the recent times, she has achieved the status of a popular screen mother.

As a film actress, some of her noted roles in the recent times include - Uttama Villain, Pasanga 2, Rajini Murugan, Pichaikkaran, Idhu Namma Aalu etc. Premi, Meendum Kuttysathan and Sundharavanam are her television roles up-to-date. She worked with theatre group Shraddha, and also directed sci-fi Tamil play Chillu in 2015 which earned her recognition. Noted writer Era Murugan has written the script for the play and Thenandal Films produced it in collaboration with Shraddha and Krea, a U.S. –based theatre group. She has also directed nine stage dramas prior to Chillu and has earned a lot of experience in this field.
