Devendra Sharma Biography

Devendra Sharma is an Indian politician from Odisha who currently serves as MLA from Aul constituency since 2014. He belongs to the Indian National Congress party. His father Dr. Dibakar Sharma was also a leading politician from the state, who served as MLA too. Sharma is an active member of the Odisha cricket association and president of the district cricket association, Kendrapara. He is also known for promoting young players in the field of sports, and one of the leading players who he promoted is footballer Sasmita Malik, who went on to become the captain of Indian women’s team. Thus he is mostly associated with sports like football and cricket.

Devendra Sharma hails from Cuttack, Odisha. He was born on 18 March 1959 into a politically influential family of Odisha. His father Dr. Dibakar Sharma is a leading congress politician associated with regional politics, and has served as MLA too. Following his footsteps, Devandra too entered the world of politics. He is married to Kumari Anita Devi since 1993 and the couple has one daughter born in 1995. He completed his LLB studies and is also a lawyer by profession. Currently he is active in social life. He graduated from Mayurbhanj Law College in 1982.

He currently serves as MLA from Aul constituency. He also serves as the head of district congress association, Kendrapara, and is a member of AICC and OPCC. He is also an educationalist known for his social commitments, apart from politics. He runs Dr. Dibakar Sharma girls' high school which aims at educating poor girls. Satya Sai School for underprivileged kids and Aul College are other educational institutions, currently under his administration.
