Devendra Fadnavis Biography

Devendra Fadnavis is a famous politician from Nagpur, Maharashtra, belonging to Bharatiya Janata Party and current Chief Minister of Maharashtra state. He currently serves as the Maharashtra state president of BJP. A young leader of the party, he got  elected to state assembly elections in 2014. He has been an elected member from Nagpur constituency since 1999 and has formerly served as Nagpur Mayor as well. He was the second youngest mayor elected in India, when he got elected in 1997 at a very young age of just 27.

He was born in Nagpur in 1970. His father has been a politician associated with Janata Party. His mother is a former Director of Vidarbh Housing Credit Society. He got married to Amruta Ranade, branch manager of Axis bank in 2006. The couple has one daughter. He joined the RSS Shakha at Trikoni Park during his younger days and his active political career started in the early 1990s. After graduation, Devendra completed LLB from Nagpur and post-graduation in business. He was an active member of ABVP in the late 1980s. 

He became Office Bearer, Nagpur (west) in the year 1990 and Nagpur City President, Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha in 1992. Since then as a youth leader, he climbed steps one by one in a quick succession. He became State Vice President of BJP in 1994 and National Vice President of Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha in 2001. He became party’s General Secretary in 2010 and got elected as Party president of Maharashtra most recently in 2013. He is the youngest municipal corporator of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation, when he got elected at the age of 21 and retained the power for next two terms as well.
