Deven Bhojani Biography

Deven Bhojani is a popular television actor and has appeared in a few Bollywood movies. He is known for comic as well as supporting roles. He has also directed a few television shows. In 1992, he was nominated for Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, Aamir Khan movie, based on school romance and cycle competition. As a television actor, his most noted roles are Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka, Office Office, Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and Baa Bahoo Aur Baby. Gattu in Baa Bahoo aur Baby is his most popular character. He has also appeared in popular Doordarshan comedy sitcoms of 1990’s – Shrimaan Shrimathi and Dekh Bhai Dekh. He is the director of popular comedy sitcom - Sarabhai vs Sarabhai for which he won numerous awards including ITA Award, the Indian Telly Award and The Apsara Award.

Deven was born on 25 November 1969 in Mumbai. But his family is originally from Gujarat. His dream was to become a Chartered Accountant. He did his Graduation in Commerce from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai. But destination was something else. He went abroad to study film making. He studied Film-Making from one the best Filmmaking schools in Hollywood called University of Southern California, Los Angeles. Once he returned, he joined Theatre.

Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar gave him big break to film industry and he decided to change his passion of acting and direction to profession. During early 1990’s he appeared in a few movies like Yeh Lamhe Judaai Ke (released 10 years later in 2004), Uff Yeh Mohabbat, Kranti Kshetra, Antaaz and Aaja Sanak. But none of those roles were noted and he concentrated on television and theatre. In 2012, he appeared in Ageepath. As a director, his first experience was his assignment as assistant for the movie – Jo jeeta wohi sikander and later directed a few episodes of Ek Mahal ho sapnom ka. Sarabhai vs Sarabhai was his directorial debut.
