Debopriya Chatterjee Biography 
Debopriya Chatterjee is a flautist from Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. She along with her sibling sister Suchismita Chatterjee forms the famous flautist duo, ‘Flute Sisters’. They always appear together for their public performances, and one among the most successful names in the present generation flautists. The siblings represent Hindustani classical music in flute. They have been performing together since 1995 at a very young age, and have completed 25 years in this field. They gave their first public performance at Sampoorna Yugal Sangeet Ratri music conference. In 2008 she was honoured by Sangeet Natak Academy with Yuva Puraskar (Prize to Young Artists). The sisters are the students of Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, famous artist.
Debopriya Chatterjee was born into a family of musicians in Allahabad. She along with her sister were initiated to the world of music by their parents. Their parents Robin Chatterjee and Krishna Chatterjee are Hindustani vocalists. For a brief period, the family lived in Afghanistan. Once returned the sisters continued with their flute lessons. They took advanced lessons in flute from Pandit Bholanath Prasanna, followed by the legendary Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia.
The sisters received Nuffic scholarship from the Indian Embassy in The Netherlands, which helped them to study world music at the Rotterdam Conservatory. They returned back to India in 1998. Since 1995 the sisters have been giving public performances. The sisters have been honoured with Sur Mani title at the Kal Ke Kalakar conference in 2001. Same year they completed Sangeet Prabhakar from Prayag Sangeet Samiti in Allahabad, their hometown. Since then they have been honoured at different musical functions. Both sisters are married now. Debopriya is settled in Mumbai, while Suchismita lives in Pune.
