Dayanand Shetty Biography

Dayanand Shetty is a film and television actor, most popular with the role of Senior Inspector Daya in the longest running detective series of Indian television – CID. He works aside Marathi veteran actor Shivaji Satyam in this most popular detective series. He has also done a couple of Bollywood movies in character roles - Johnny Gaddaar as Shiva (2007) and Runway as Inspector (2009). He has also done guest appearance and become celebrity guest for a few television serials and reality shows of Indian television. He has also appeared as a contestant in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, season 4.

Shetty’s full name is Dayanand Chandrashekhar Shetty. He was born on 11 December 1969 in Kattapadi, Karnataka. He was a part of dramas before entering television. He first appeared in a one act play in Tulu language for which he won best actor award. He then auditioned for the role of cop in CID in 1998 and was selected. This single series made him a household name and immensely popular all over India too. Shetty has also appeared in several television commercials. He won the best looking guy vote conducted by Indian Television in 2002.

Shetty has recorded a lullaby for his most popular serial, CID. It became popular and it was for the first time when singing talent of Shetty was noted. The particular lullaby was recorded in the year 2012. Apart from it, he has also made guest appearances in daily soaps like "Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin" and "Kkusum". He has appeared as Celebrity Guests in the TV show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs on Independence day special episode in 2011, Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega (Season 4), "Kahani Comedy Circus Ki” and "Aapka Sapna Hamara Apna".
