D. Santosh Biography

D. Santosh is a noted theatre artist from Mumbai who plays supporting roles in Bollywood films. He also excels in comic roles. He shot to fame playing the character role of Girish Reddy in 2009 Ranbir Kapoor film - Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year, which earned him a nomination at Star Screen Awards in the ‘Best Comic Actor’ category. Micheal in My Name is Anthony Gonsalves, Shiviram Hari Rajguru in The Legend of Bhagat Singh and Jaffar Bhai in Traffic Signal are among his other noted roles. Zameen, Khakee, Risk, Ahista Ahista, Iqbal, Jawani Diwani, Dhamaal, Deewaar: Let's Bring Our Heroes Home, Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag, Savdhan Meri Jaan etc are a few more character roles he played onscreen.

 

Santosh was born on 26 September 1976. He has been active in theatre world before his entry to films in the year 2002. In 1998 he attended a workshop conducted by Amol Palekar and Bhakti Barve. His passion to learn the art of acting prompted him to attend this workshop. He also participated in Pandit Satyadev Dubey’s free workshops. Since then he has been active in theatre as a stage actor. He has been a part of Makarand Deshpande’s Ansh theatre troupe and has acted in his play - Vasanth Ka Teesra Youvan, followed by Saa Hi Besura, Ek Kadam Aage and Sakharam Binder Ki Khoj Mein Hawaldar.

 

This talented young actor regards experiences in theater as a form of practice. The Legend of Bhagat Singh directed by Rajkumar Santoshi was his debut film. Though the movie was a flop, it was appreciated by critics for acting performances. The lead actor Ajay Devgan received his second National award through this film. Santhosh played the role of Raj Guru in this film. His best role up-to-date is Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year.
