D. R. K. Kiran Biography 
D. R. K. Kiran is a film actor and art director who works in Tamil cinema industry. He joined film industry in the 1990s and worked as an assistant director/art director under many ace personalities in the 1990s and early 2000s. He has been associated with ad world as well as television before he completely switched over to cine world. In his opinion, “Successful art direction is when the work goes unnoticed”.
As an art director his career began in 1998. Currently he is active in the film industry as a character artist also, playing brief roles. Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum, Thirunaal, Yaman, Kavan, Paayum Puli, Vedhalam, Anegan, Kathakali etc are some of the movies in which he played brief roles in the recent times. In fact he plays cameo roles in movies for which he also handles art direction; Kavan, Kathakali, Anegan etc to mention. He has also done the art direction of Telugu film Jagadam in 2007.
His real name is Vetrivelan. He initially wanted to become a film director. But he was clueless of whom to approach. Initially he worked under Suresh in the 1990s as an assistant director. He was recommended by one of his friends who worked as an assistant art director in the industry. While working for the movie Seeman, he realized that art direction is indeed a huge responsibility and he got fascinated with this field. He later worked with JK, PC Sreeram and then with Raghavan for Alaippayuthey and Kandukondein Kandukondein with Nagaraj. He also worked with Vasanth for Nerukku Ner.
His work for Kandukondein Kandukondein impressed Latha Menon (wife of Rajiv Menon), who recommended his name to her husband. Later he worked under Rajiv Menon in the ad world for 5 years. Through reference he worked under many artists for around 1000 ad films, and has also worked with Editor Antony. He acted in a cameo role in Thiru Thiru Thuru Thuru, and has been regular in brief roles on silver screen later. Ko, Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal, 3, Podaa Podi etc are some of his works as an art director.
