Chunkey Pandey Biography

 

Chunkey Pandey is a successful actor of Bollywood and Bangladesh movies. He is most famous for his supporting roles in Aankhein and Tezaab and most popular for his comic performances. He has appeared in both leading roles as well as supporting roles. Most recently he appeared in the sequel ‘Kya kya super cool hai hum’ in the role of a Baba in comic role and entertained the crowds. He has been successfully paired with Neelam Kothari in many Bollywood movies as well as Bangladesh movies.

 

Chunkey Pandey debuted Bollywood in 1987 with Aag hi aag. Neelam Kothari was his first heroine. But he has done the role of an extra, ringing the bell in debut movie of Sanjay Dutt Rocky in 1981.  In 1988, he did supporting role in Anil Kapoor’s superhit Tezaab and his role was appreciated. He won a Filmfare nomination in supporting role and the song pictured on him, ‘So gaya yeh jahan’ was also well noted. Then he appeared in a series of movies during late 80’s as well as early 90’s and got mixed responses. His success in Bangladesh movies prompted him to shift there forever, though he works for Bollywood once in a while. Teesri Kaun was his last movie during middle 90’s. He was not able to compete with emerging stars of Bollywood that time like Shah Rukh, Aamir and Akshay Kumar.

 

During 2000’s he returned back to Bollywood in supporting character role. Movies like Tirchi topiwala (1998), Yeh hai Mumbai meri jaan (1999), Qayamat  and Mumbai se aaya mere dost (2003), Apna sapna money money (2005), I see you (2006), De dana dan (2009), Hosueful and Tees maar Khan (2010), Ready, Rascals and Houseful 2 (2011), Kya super cool hain hum (2012) and Race 2 (2013) are among the memorable movies of his comeback.  

 

His best works during the first phase of his career include Paap ki duniya, Kasam vardi ka, Zakhm, Ustaad, Zahreeley, Ghar ka chirag, aaj ki shehen shah, Kohraam, Khilaf, tadap, Khatron ka khiladi and Agnee. Audience have appreciated a lot the comic traits of Chunkey Pandey and for those few comic roles he played, he will be remembered forever.
