Chris Perry Biography 
Chris Perry was a legendary Goan musician, composer and songwriter who revolutionized the Konkani music scene by introducing jazz music, and also took Konkani music to new level. He was also a film producer. He lived during the period, 25 November 1928 − 25 January 2002. Perry was best known as an exceptionally gifted trumpeter who was nicknamed - Man with the Golden Trumpet. He was also a master of musical instruments such as saxophone, trumpet, flute, keyboard, piano and guitar. He has also served as assistant to Hindi film music directors for more than 25 years, working in orchestra. He produced the first Konkani colour film Bhuierantlo Munis in 1978.
Chris Perry was the stage name of Periera. His birth name is recorded as Christovam Pereira as well as Christopher Pereira. Perry was born at Borda, Margao as one among the 9 children of Agostinho and Espiciosa Pereira. His brother, Joe Perry played alto sax in Hindi films and also composed the signature tune of All India Radio. Chris was married to Lily D’Costa and had 4 sons. Chris is best known for revolutionizing Konkani music and blended it well with the Western Jazz. Nhovro Mhozo Denvchar, Tum ani Hanv and Lob Padricho are among his popular stage shows. Carnival in Goa, From Dubai with Love, Mhoji mai, Poilo Kiss etc are among his popular musical albums.
He was the mentor of legendary female singer from Goa, Lorna Cordeiro. Her hidden talent was spotted by Chris Perry who taught her music and also supported as her mentor. She became a band member of Perry at the age of 15 and was associated with it for next 11 years. She has also rendered many Perry’s compositions later. Nachom-ia Kumpasar is a Konkani film based on the lives of two jazz musicians, Chris Perry and Lorna.
