Chinmay Mandlekar Biography

Chinmay Mandlekar is a noted film and stage actor associated with Marathi entertainment industry. He is also a film director. Zenda, Morya and Gajaar: Journey of the Soul are among his noted Marathi film roles, and he has also done brief roles in Bollywood films, Tere Bin Laden and Shanghai – the movies highly appreciated by critics. He is quite popular with small screen roles too. His lead role in hit TV serial Tu Tithe Me made him a household name among Marathi TV viewers and his chemistry with Mrunal Dusanis was well appreciated. Tu Majha Sangati, Asambhav, Vaadalvaat and Anhonee are a few more television roles.

 

In 2015 he played the lead role in the biopic - Mahanayak Vasant Tu, where he played the role of former chief minister of Maharashtra, Vasantrao Naik who is the longest serving chief minister of the state. Chinmay has excelled as an author, script writer, dialogues and poet. He has a strong theatre background also. He has written stories for Vijay Aso and Kshan, and wrote the script for Duniyadari. An actor known for experiments, he has showcased his talents as a lead actor, supporting actor as well as comedian. He also acted in short films such as The Tigers, They’re All Dead.

 

Chinmay Mandlekar was born on 2 February 1982. He was born and brought up in Mumbai. He studied at St. Sebastian School in Girgaon and completed graduation from Dahanukar College in Vile Parle. He later graduated from the prestigious National School of Drama, Delhi. Since then he is associated with theatre as a professional actor. Ek Lafada Visarta Na Yenara and Aadipashya are his popular plays. His first stint to acting happened during his college days at Vile Parle.
