Chethan Jayalal Biography

Chethan Jayalal is a young actor and child artist associated with Malayalam cinema, best known for the critically acclaimed film directed by debutant Johnpaul George – Guppy. Chethan played the lead role of the teenager boy in the film, while Rohini, Tovino Thomas and Sreenivasan played supporting roles. Chethan won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Child Artist in 2016 for his brilliant performance in Guppy. Though he has been a part of many critically acclaimed and successful films of Malayalam industry such as ‘Iyobinte Pusthakam’, ‘Charlie’  and ‘Oppam’, Malayalis loved him for his heart touching role in Guppy.  

Chethan hails from Ernakulam, Kerala. He is the son of Jayalal and Manju. He has one sister named Chiritha. He completed his 10th grade from SDPYKPM H S School Vypin, Edavanakad of Ernakulam. 2012 film ‘Bachelor’s party’ marked his acting debut as a child artist. Very soon he bagged morecharacter roles in Malayalam cinema. His realistic acting skills brought him more roles from Mollywood, and before Guppy happened, ‘Iyobinte Pusthakam’ remains one among his memorable roles.

As a child actor, he has essayed more than 25 films, and best among the works include - Ozhimuri, ABCD: American-Born Confused Desi, 5 Sundarikal, Chirakodinja Kinavukal, Iyobinte Pusthakam, Jilebi,  Vikramadithyan,  Salala Mobiles, Lailaa O Lailaa, Charlie, Oppam, Law Point, Guppy, Rakshadhikari Baiju, Oru Vadakkan Selfie and Sukhamano Davide. In 2016 he won state award for best artist for his stunning performance in Guppi. In the film he played the role of a dutiful son who looks after his paralyzed mother, and the role was played by Rohini. Fahadh Faasil and Mamta Mohandas starrer Carbon is his recent release.
