Chelangatt Gopalakrishnan Biography 
Chelangatt Gopalakrishnan was a famous film journalist and writer from Kerala. He is known for disclosing the forgotten hero – J. C. Daniel, the father of Malayalam Cinema, before the public. He came to limelight soon after the release of the movie, Celluloid (2012) – biopic of J. C. Daniel by Kamal paying homage to the ‘Father of Malayalam cinema’. His character was played by Sreenivasan in this movie, which gained attention. Apart from a shining career as a Malayalam journalist, he has published 56 other books in various categories including children literature. He had a long term association with Mathrubhumi, one of the leading dailies of Malayalam.
Chelangatt Gopalakrishnan was born in Cherthala of Alappuzha district in Kerala on June 6, 1932 to Sri Nediyedathu Kesava Pillai and Thrikkeparambil Ammukkutti Amma. Soon after completing his college studies, he started his career as a journalist. His first association was with a regional newspaper; Malayali. Later he worked with Mathrubhumi newspaper. He has been one of the well-established journalists during his period. He has been one of the earliest film journalists and authenticated writersof Malayalam film history, other noted name being Professor Guptan Nair. He has also been a member of Kerala State Film Awards Jury for several years.
He has authored several film books including novels, biographies, history and technical aspects of film making. J C Danielinte Jeevitha Katha is an asset to Malayalam cinema. Loka Cinemayude Charithram, Dakshinendiyayile Viplavakaarikal, Annathe Nayikamar, Mukham Nokkathe, Indian Cinemayude Charithram, Nataka Kala, Charithrathilillatha Viplavakarikal, Cinema Nirmmanam Keralathil, Marakkapppetta Viplavakaarikal, Pathrapravarthanam Keralathil Mukhathodu Mukham, Chalachithra Abhinayam, Vincent Muthal Vincent Vare, Cinema Nirmmanam Pillerukaliyo and Cinemayude Katha are other noted works.
