Chef Malgudi Kavitha Biography

Chef Malgudi Kavitha is a native of Vriddhachalam, Cuddalore District, Tamilnadu, (India) presently residing at Chennai. She has completed her “Food Production and Hotel Management” studies from Tamilnadu University and MMA College, Chennai. She has 3 elder sisters, 3 younger sisters, 3 younger brothers and herself. Her father is a High Court Lawyer and former Chairman of Kammapuram Panchayat Union Council, her mother is an auxiliary Nurse. She is a hard worker and versatile person. Her “Time management skill” is excellent and she never postpones any work assigned to her without losing her patience.

 

Fusion of South Indian food with traditional cuisine is what made Chef Kavitha as Malgudi Kavitha a name reckons within the hotel industry. She spent her initial years in earning different cuisines, but later realized that her interest lay in unearthing a correct or authentic regional southern food. Having worked with different concerns like Mowbrays Inn, Chennai, a Joint commission Of International Aggradations company Apollo Sindoori Hotels Limited, Ambica Empire Vadapazhani and now The Savera Hotel, Chennai what has been the privilege of being one of the finest four star hotels, hospitality with a difference where she has an opportunity to develop the concept of the restaurant.

 

Her vision and desire to popularize the know-how of traditional South Indian recipes and concept of designing of restaurants across the globe. She is a member of SICA (South Indian Culinary Association) and has hosted more than 800 episodes in Media, like Puthu Yugam TV’s Ungal Kitchen Engal Chef”,Vijay TV,Polimer TV, Zee Tamil, Jaya TV, Peppers TV, Vasanth TV & Kalaignar TV, Raj TV are offering space for her innovative special recipes, cooking tips and diet foods. Many Food Festivals are conducted by her, planning her own menu, and doing live kitchen for valuable customers.

 

Kavitha’s Limca Book of Records:-

Chef  Malgudi Kavitha conducted Unavodu Vilayadu (A mega South Indian southern states’ food cooking event)  for 1000 women under single roof which lasted for 9 hr and 16 mins from 9.30 am to 7.46 pm at YMCA Ground, Royapettah, Chennai, Tamilnadu on May 4, 2014. Dishes cooked were 500 vegetarian and 500 non-vegetarian dishes and the total weight of cooked food - 999 kilo 257 grams.

She has been successful in staffing, ordering food, preparing meals, conducting food festivals, menu standardization, culinary consistency development, Hospitality consultation, monitoring food and food costs for dining rooms and restaurants.

She succeeded in much traditional food festival in many outlet and Malgudi, Savera Hotel. Her Food Specialization: Kerela, Karnataka, Andhra, and Chettinadu Traditional authentic food.

Food is her passion! She believes that  food is the essence and soul of the restaurant.
