Charulatha Mani Biography 
Charulatha Mani is a popular playback singer associated with Tamil film industry. She also performs in live Carnatic concerts, and is a columnist who writes the column “A Raga's journey” for The Hindu newspaper. She is regularly featured in radio shows as well as TV shows. Isai Payanam – is her popular show on Jaya TV, which emphasizes on Carnatic music and film music. Kaakka Kaakka” from “Naan Avan Illai”, Chillax” from Velayudham, Theeye Theeye” from Maattrraan and “En Uchi Mandaila” from Vettaikaran are some of her popular film songs. She has been awarded the 'Woman Achievers Award' (2009), Yuva Kala Bharati from Bharat Kalachar, the Isai Kurasil from New Delhi and M S Subbulakshmi Endowment Award from Narada Gana Sabha, Chennai, apart from several other awards.
She was born in Chennai on January 21, 1981. This leading Carnatic music vocalist from Tamil Nadu has a huge fan following in India and abroad. She was initially trained under her mother Hemalatha Mani, a noted Veena artiste. She also received training from Sandhyavananam Srinivasa Rao, and Calcutta K. S. Krishnamurthy. She completed her master's degree in Music from the University of Madras. Started her career with Carnatic music for live concerts, she later rendered her voice for a few Tamil songs also. Yet she gives preference to Carnatic music and has conducted many tours abroad. She has performed in all major sabhas in Chennai and all over India.
She also appears in radio shows and TV shows and currently anchors Isai Cafe on Raj TV and Isai Payanam on Jaya TV. Her voice was used in Bollywood film - Chennai Express. She started her singing debut in film music in the early 2000s. Nandha in 2001 was her first film, composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. She got associated with Carnatic concerts in the late 1990s.
