Charu Nivedita Biography

K. Arivazhagan, known by his pen name Charu Nivedita is a noted writer from Nagore, Tamil Nadu who introduced the literary genre Autofiction in India. He is best known for his transgressive works and he also writes film scripts. He writes for many English newspapers and is a popular writer of Malayalam daily, Kerala Kaumudi. He belongs to the group of most controversial Tamil writers of this period. He is known for his racy style of writing and very often attempts subjects that have never explored before. Presently he is writing column "Manam Kothi Paravai" in a Tamil weekly Ananda Vikatan. His second book, Zero degrees is regarded as one of the best in transgressive fiction. He is equally popular as a writer in Tamil Nadu as well as its neighbouring state, Kerala.

His first novel is Existentialismum Fancy Baniyanum. His second published book was Zero Degree which is regarded as his magnum opus. This work is one of the best in transgressive fiction also. His next novel Raasa Leela was a political satire. Kaamarooba Kadhaigal, his fourth work is an internet novel. His last published novel is Exile, published in 2011. His works are often translated to English and Malayalam. NaNo, Madumitha Sonna Pambu Kadhaigal, Oorin miga azhagaana Pen (translation work), Diabolically Yours and MUL are his short story collections. He has also published one play - Rendaam aattam and a literary review - Dhandeyin Siruththai. Azaadhi Azaadhi Azaadhi and Adhigaaram Amaidhi Sudhanthiram are his political essays.

Charu Nivedita has also written numerous articles on many themes such as politics, literature, music, movies, post-modernism and human beliefs. His works often include satire as the main ingredient. He is a social activist too, who participates in several movements and protests against the governmental oppression.
