Chandrakant Kavlekar Biography 
Chandrakant Kavlekar is an Indian Politician from the state of Goa. Associated with regional politics, he has been elected to state assembly fourth times. Associated with Indian national congress, he currently serves as the Leader of Opposition in Legislative assembly. He represents the Quepem constituency right now. He defeated Prakash Velip of BJP in state assembly elections, to serve as an MLA for his fourth consecutive term. He has been serving as leader of opposition of Goa legistaltive assembly since 12 March 2017.
Chandrakant Kavlekar also known as Chandrakant 'Babu' Kavlekar was born into a poor family in the remote village of Quital – Quepem. He was born on 7th May, 1980. He struggled a lot during his childhood days and had to toil hard to financially support his family. He studied up to 8th grade only, and later had to quit studies due to the bad financial condition of his family. He is now married to Savitri. Apart from being Congressman, he is also into business. A case of allegedly having disproportionate wealth has been registered against him and his wife.
He entered politics at a very young age, and now at 38, he is serving his fourth term as Member of Legislative assembly. He remains a popular young leader among the masses. He is fondly called Babu by his well-wishers and followers. Known to be a loyal Congressman, he has worked with other Congress leaders to regain the lost ground for the party. Taunted to be a future leader of Goa regional politics, he has a promising career ahead. He is a former chairman of the state-run Goa Industrial Development Corporation.
