Chandra Lakshman Biography

Chandra Lakshman is a well-established television actress of Malayalam and Tamil known for protagonist’s role. She has also acted in Malayalam and Tamil films. She is a trained bharatanatyam dancer. She made her acting debut through movies and later moved to television. Swantham (Malayalam) marked her successful television debut and very soon she became an esatblsihed actress of small screen. Her performance as Divya in the popular series KadhalikkaNeramillai and Akhilain Vasantham are noted Tamil television serials. She played lead role opposite Prithviraj in 2002 movie, Stop Violence which is her debut Malayalam movie too. Earlier she has appeared in one Tamil movie, Manasellam the same year.

Chandra was born and brought up in Chennai. She completed her studies from Chennai and also took formal training in Bharatnatyam. She was doing her hotel management training when film director spotted her. Thus she made her acting debut with the 2002 Tamil film Manasellam where she played lead hero’s sister. However, she made her Malayalam debut same year where she got the lead actress role alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran. The movie performed well at the box office. Asuravithu with Asif Ali in the lead role is a sequel to this movie.

Though her debut Malayalam movie was a box office hit, she couldn’t gain much from the industry and later moved to supporting roles. She later appeared in Malayalam movies like Chakram, Balram vs. Taradas and Khaki. Then she moved to Malayalam television.Swantham was her debut serial where she essayed a negative role. This serial brought her to limelight and later she accepted more television offers, both from Malayalam and Tamil. Her negative role Ganga in Kolangal series is her praise worthy performance in Tamil television.
